Administering NIS maps
This section concerns the propagation of maps from the master
to the slave and copy-only servers.
This section does not cover the modification of the content of
existing maps or the creation of new maps.
For that information, see
``Creating NIS maps''.
Propagation of NIS maps depends on the following:
-
Keeping the list of maps current by modifying the list when
maps are added or deleted.
This list is the
/etc/yp/YP_MAP_X_LATE file.
-
Modifying map attributes as necessary to ensure correct propagation.
-
Manually propagating maps either by having a nonmaster retrieve
maps from the master or by having the master distribute maps to slave servers.
