Creating NIS maps

NIS creates some maps by default. The NIS administrator may create additional maps to be serviced by NIS. Both default and additional maps may need to be modified. The following sections provide information on creating and modifying maps. New and updated maps must be propagated from the master server to slave and copy-only servers. The propagation of maps is described in ``Administering NIS maps''.
