The /etc/resolv.conf file
If /etc/resolv.conf exists, DNS uses it to perform
resolution rather than named. Reasons for using
/etc/resolv.conf include:
-
configuring a remote server, which does not run named.
-
naming one or more specific name servers to query in a particular order.
-
naming one or more specific zones to query in a particular order.
-
specifying address sorting or other options.
