Advanced DNS configuration
After you create a basic DNS configuration by setting
up /etc/named.conf or /etc/resolv.conf, you may
fine-tune your configuration by editing resource records
and other data in configuration files. If you are creating a primary
server, you must create the hostname databases. Other reasons
to customize your configuration include:
-
fine-tuning the resolution procedure
-
designating authority for zones
-
describing a list of well-known services at other nodes
-
describing available text and database files at other nodes
For more information on DNS server and
client configuration files and on editing
DNS resource records, see the
Name Server Operations Guide for BIND.
