Configuring the Network File System (NFS)

Adding, modifying and removing filesystem export configuration

Filesystems are said to be exported when the system administrator of a filesystem server makes them available for remote mounting on client machines.

NOTE: You must choose Export Status from the View menu before managing filesystem export configuration.

To add filesystem export information in the Filesystem Manager:

  1. Select NFS and then Add Export Configuration from the Export menu.

  2. Enter the directory to be exported or select the directory from the pop-up list.

  3. Specify the client access permissions for the filesystem. See ``Setting export access permissions''.

  4. Specify whether the filesystem is to be exported now:

    Yes
This adds the filesystem information to the system configuration and exports it immediately.

    No
This adds the filesystem information to the system configuration but does not export it immediately.

  5. Specify the anonymous access options for the filesystem. See ``Setting anonymous access permissions''.

To modify filesystem export information in the Filesystem Manager:

  1. Select a filesystem from the export list.

  2. Select Modify Export Configuration from the Export menu.

  3. Change any filesystem export parameters.
To remove the export configuration for a filesystem, select Remove Export Configuration from the Export menu and click on Yes at the prompt.

This removes export configuration information from the system, and the filesystem no longer appears in the Filesystem Manager export list. If the filesystem is exported, removing the export configuration also unexports the filesystem.
