Installing and managing software over the network

Installing and managing software over the network

Installation can refer to the SCO OpenServer operating system and its associated products (``initial system load'', or ISL) or it can refer to custom-format products, components, and packages that you install after ISL. You can perform both kinds of installation over the network.

The first three sections of this chapter describe post-ISL installation and other software management tasks. They explain how to set up a software server and how to install and manage software across the network.

The fourth section of this chapter explains how to do an initial system load or upgrade from a remote server (rather than from a tape, CD-ROM, or floppy disk).

The fifth section describes the new product structure.
