Some applications and system configurations require non-default kernel tunable parameters. Since Release 5.0.7, some kernel parameters have changed names, some have been removed, and others have changed behavior. New kernel parameters have also been added.
Customers upgrading from Release 5.0.7 can refer to the comparison table below to determine how to adjust their accustomed tunable settings based on the kernel parameters supported in Release 6.
For the convenience of upgrade customers, the table is organized according to the kernel parameters description sections in the Release 5.0.7 Performance Guide kernel parameters chapter. Select one of the links below to jump to the appropriate part of the comparison table.
Note that not all Release 6 tunables are mentioned in the table below. For the complete reference, please see Configuring kernel parameters in the Release 6 documentation.
Kernel tunables are displayed and changed using either the scoadmin hardware graphical interface, the configure(ADM) script, or the idtune(ADM) command.
In the table, the Release 5.0.7 kernel tunable parameters are shown with their Release 6 equivalents and notes. The tunables are linked to their descriptions in the Release 5.0.7 and Release 6 online documentation. Refer to the linked documentation for details on each parameter.
