Real-time performance monitor (rtpm)

The real-time performance monitor is interactive and screen-based, and provides real-time display of performance metrics. The metrics are available in either of two views: a CPU view and a CG view. In the CPU view, the metrics are displayed on a per-processor basis. In the CG view, the metrics are displayed on a per-CPU group basis, where each CPU group consists of a set of processors.

The following groups of metrics are available:

• User, system, interrupt handling and waiting for I/O percentages

• System call and other sysinfo(ADM) information.

• Statistics about available memory

• Device I/O statistics

• Paging I/O information

• Inode, directory block, and dnlc statistics

• Process table statistics

• Serial I/O data

• Counts of streams, messages, and queues

• Networking statistics

• Information about the most recently run processes, similar to the ps command

The screen is divided into a graphical display area, a text display area, and a status line. Metrics are displayed numerically. When a metric is selected, a plot is displayed in the graphical area of the screen. If the selected object is text-based, the data is displayed in the numerical display area.

The hierarchical set of menus allows you to choose other displays or return to the top-level menu.
