Administering NIS logfiles

Administration of NIS logfiles consists of enabling and disabling NIS logging, displaying logfiles, and clearing logfiles.

To enable NIS logging, create the file /usr/adm/nislog.

To disable NIS logging, remove the file /usr/adm/nislog or move it to another location (that is, change its name).

To display NIS logfiles, use a text editor, such as vi(C), or use the more(C) command to view the contents of the logfile /usr/adm/nislog.

To clear the NIS logfile:

cat /dev/null > /usr/adm/nislog
