Troubleshooting failed lock requests

If users are experiencing failed lock requests:

  1. Check /usr/adm/syslog for error messages that might point to the cause of the failures.

  2. Invoke statd and lockd with the debugging flag set:

    /etc/statd -d [debuglevel]

    /etc/lockd -d [debuglevel]

The value you specify for debuglevel determines the type of information that is contained in the report messages. A debug level of 4 will report the host's internal state and all lock request traffic in verbose form. A debug level of 2 will report significant events.
