Configuring the NFS automounter

Creating local automount maps

Creating local automount maps allows users to vary their automounting privileges according to specialized needs. To create local automount maps:

  1. Edit the /etc/auto.master file to contain entries like:
       +/local_map_name

    For example:
       +/etc/auto.mystuff # local map

The / entry indicates to automount that it is to read a local map instead of an NIS map.

  2. Edit the /etc/nfs file to remove the -m option

  3. Reboot to restart automount
