Administering a Calendar server

Examining server log files (11)

You can determine the nature of server errors by viewing the server logfile on the server computer. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Enter 11 at the Calendar Administration menu. The top of the server logfile, similar to this example, appears:
Calendar server is located on machine: 'london'
       DATE: 06-05-94 TIME: 01:00:59

Server exiting! Goodbye! Press <return> to continue:

  2. Press <Space> as needed to view more of the logfile. When you reach the end of the file, press <Return> to move back to the Calendar Administration menu.
In the example shown previously, the server could not open the event database. This could indicate a permissions problem. While some error messages do not pinpoint the exact nature of the problem, most provide a basis for further troubleshooting.
