Understanding video configuration
Before you run the Video Configuration Manager,
check your monitor and video adapter documentation
for the following information:
determine resolutions and refresh rates supported by the monitor.
Note the supported horizontal and vertical sync rates.
It is important
that you only use supported
horizontal and vertical sync rate values because
incorrect settings can cause out-of-sync errors or
even cause severe damage to your monitor.
Video adapter chipset
identify the chipset used by your video adapter. The
chipset determines the video driver that is required.
In most cases, the chipset will be automatically detected
but knowing this information is important in the event
that you need to manually configure your video hardware.
``Supported video adapters''
for the video drivers that are supported in SCO OpenServer Release 6.0.0.
Video adapter memory
determine how much video memory is available on
your adapter. Video memory determines the maximum
resolution and color depth settings that you can use.
