Configuring the root hard disk
When you install the operating system, the root disk is
configured as the first disk on
the first IDE, EIDE, UDMA,
or ESDI controller, or controller ID 0
on the SCSI bus controlled by the primary host
adapter. IBM SCSI host adapters on
the MCA bus are exceptions; these expect to find
the root hard disk controller at ID 6.
