yppasswd(NS)


yppasswd -- update user password in Network Information Service (NIS)

Syntax

cc ... -lrpcsvc -lsocket

yppasswd(oldpass, newpw) char *oldpass; struct passwd *newpw;

Description

If oldpass is indeed the old user password, this routine replaces the password entry with newpw.


NOTE: All routines in librpc and libyp have been incorporated into libsocket. libyp and libsocket have been retained so that existing Makefiles will continue to work. New code should be linked with libsocket.

Takes struct yppasswd as argument and returns integer.
Same behavior as yppasswd() wrapper.
Uses UNIX authentication.

Return values

If the call succeeds, a value of 0 is returned. If the call fails, then a value of -1 is returned.

Limitations

No reason for failure is returned in errno.
