M_CTL, M_PCCTL -- send information to a particular module or type of module

Description

M_CTL and M_PCCTL are generated by modules that wish to send information to a particular module or type of module. M_CTL messages are typically used for intermodule communication, as when adjacent STREAMS protocol modules negotiate the terms of their interface. An M_CTL message cannot be generated by a user-level process and is always discarded if passed to the Stream head.

Message type

M_CTL is ordinary (non-priority); M_PCCTL is priority.
