initialize(ADMN)
initialize --
bring network interfaces up or down
Synopsis
/usr/sbin/initialize [-U | -D]
/usr/sbin/initialize -u [ all | interface ]
/usr/sbin/initialize -d interface
Description
initialize(ADM)
is used to bring network interfaces up or down.
Each network interface configured on the system is defined by a string consisting of the
network driver and the unit number (such as net0 for the first NIC card or lo0 for the
loopback interface).
Usage
initialize -U and initialize -u all bring up all network interfaces;
initialize -D takes them down.
The -u and -d options are used to operate on one interface at a time.
