getpeername(SSC-osr5)
getpeername --
get name of connected peer
Syntax
cc ... -lsocket
int getpeername(s, name, namelen)
int s;
struct sockaddr *name;
int *namelen;
Description
getpeername( )
returns the name of the peer
connected to socket s.
The namelen parameter should be initialized to indicate
the amount of space pointed to by name.
On return it contains the actual size of the name returned (in bytes).
The interpretation of "name" depends on the "communication domain".
(See
protocols(SFF)
for more information.)
Only the Internet domain and the UNIX domain are currently supported.
Return values
A return value of zero indicates that the call succeeded.
A return value of -1 indicates that an error occurred, and in this
case an error code is stored in the global variable errno.
Diagnostics
The call succeeds unless:
[EBADF]-
The s argument is not a valid descriptor.
[ENOTSOCK]-
The s argument points to a file, not a socket.
[ENOTCONN]-
The socket is not connected.
[ENOBUFS]-
Insufficient resources were available in the system
to perform the operation.
[EFAULT]-
The name parameter points
to memory not in a valid part of the process's address space.
